its a work of fiction, over here its not the story of son Wukong. They took elements of son Wukong and added it to story. Plus son Wukong became the sage equal to heaven only after leaving the mountain, which he clearly hasn't from this story.

It's also possible that its some sort of offshoot or a relative. Usually they talk about bloodlilnes that have been watered down in these kinds of stories.

This another story and like you see another world, most likely is like others said, the monkey king is a relative or a clone. Also, remember that the competition was in a space area that is like a prison.

This is not earth, later they will explain that is not a world but a prison too in a space area. Shi Hao later will have to travel to another areas, worlds and at the end to a god world, but they will not be any of the god names that we know.

Just as you said it's from mythology so wukong/Monkey king doesn't have any kind of copyright so they can just take his story and add something to it.
